IT company Microsoft has fixed down an issue which was causing Office applications like Word and Excel to crash when working with cloud documents. The list includes Excel for Microsoft 365, Word for Microsoft 365 and PowerPoint for Microsoft 365.

However, users wouldn’t have noticed the problem as “no errors are displayed when the application suddenly closes”.

Those who have been impacted by this problem who don’t want to wait until the update rolls out to their system can manually install it by opening the Office app and clicking “Update Now” which is under File > Account > Update Options.

“Word, Excel and PowerPoint might close unexpectedly when opening, closing, saving, uploading, or downloading cloud files in Office Version 2205,” the company described the issue on its support website.

Microsoft has confirmed that the issue is getting fixed with being rolled out to affected customers via an update. The company also provides a workaround for Office 2021 or Office 2019 customers who will not be provided with a fix.

Surfshark has announced that it will shut down its VPN (Virtual Private Network) service in India. The Indian Government has released a new guideline for the VPN service providing companies to record and store details of their customers. Soon after the release of the guideline, Surfshark declared of terminating its service in India.

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued the new regulation, which will come into effect this year around the end of June. This incident has received criticism from a section of society. VPN service-providing companies have condemned the regulation saying that VPN services are used to provide complete privacy to the users by encrypting their network traffic and IP address.

VPN services are used for various reasons from protecting public Wi-Fi to masking browser and torrent history from receiving data packets. If there isn’t any VPN present at the site, the data packets travelling the internet can reveal the user’s IP address to the online services. This can allow unwanted websites to collect data and personal information.

In a recent statement, Surfshark’s explained its no-logs policy, “Surfshark VPN does not keep track of your online whereabouts or actions in any way. The VPN server only keeps enough data to keep your VPN connection going.”

However, according to the newly added provision in section 70B for the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, a VPN provider should abandon their core values by retaining their customer’s details.

A model-looking robot cashier ‘Dunyasha’ will now be working at the Perm’s Airport where visitors will be served by her.

Initially, this Robo Barmaid was used in the cybercafe in Perm and now, it will also work in the Perm’s Airport. The Dunyasha Cyber Cafe project was initiated by the domestic company Promobot in partnership with Robin Hood Robotics. The first cities of this cafe were Perm (a cafe in Gorky Park) and Nizhny Novgorod (a coffee shop at the Ferris wheel). The authors of the project are planning to open 12 more such cafes in Russia.

Dunyasha, unlike real sellers, will not only serve visitors but also will interact with them. The robot will also be able to keep up the conversation, tell a story and even offer to take a photo together.

The idea of creating these robots belongs to the director of the Perm Culture and Recreation Park, Gorky Rashid Gabdulin. The model of Dunyasha’s robot appearance was his wife Diana Gabdullina, the holder of the title Mrs Perm – 2014. Only Russian components were used to make this robot. A single robot’s cost is 10 million rubles. Compared to the previous Droid model, Dunyasha looks much more realistic. However, her appearance is more like a doll because “it is more acceptable to have a relationship with a child,” Gabdulin explained.
