YouTube Starts Sending Messages Pointing Out that Ad-Blockers are Not Allowed

The video platform of Google, YouTube has now started popping up reminder messages telling its users that ad-blockers are not allowed on the platform. The message was first spotted and shared by a Reddit user followed by many others who have also reported the appearance of the message.

Ad-Blockers are Not Allowed on YouTube?

Users have started to receive pop-up messages reminding users that ad-blockers are not allowed on the video streaming and sharing platform, YouTube. YouTube has started sending messages indicating that the users might be using an ad-blocker and mentioning the point that ads are what makes YouTube stay free for billions of users worldwide.

They have also added that, if its users do not want to see ads, they can subscribe to YouTube Premium and enjoy an ad-free experience, and creators will still be able to get paid from the users’ subscription.

The pop-up window has two options at the bottom one for allowing YouTube ads and the other for trying out YouTube Premium. There is also a “Report issue” link given on the pop-up message and users can report an issue if the pop-up is displayed even without having used an ad-blocker.

At the moment, there isn’t any strict ban or restriction on ad-blockers, and users can still ignore the message and continue using the ad-blocker to view ad-free content on YouTube, but the question is how long?

A Google spokesperson had also recently responded about this to IGN, stating that it is a “small experiment” from the side of the giant tech company. The goal is to urge users to stop using ad-blockers and start subscribing to YouTube Premium for an ad-free experience.
