Google Doodle celebrates Kamn Ismail’s birthday with his inspirational story today

Google Doodles are the coolest animation on the web. And there’s yet another Google Doodle of an inspirational personality for today. February 8th, 2023 marks Kamn Ismail’s 67th birthday. He is a cartoonist and a leading light for the Malaysian animation industry. Here’s more about him and his inspirational story.

Born in 1956, Kamn Ismail became a comic artist as a teenager. But like most parents, his dad also advised him not to pursue animation professionally as it was not a viable career and a stable income could not be brought in.

What came next was a railway clerk’s job for a period of  17 long years. However, Kamn Ismail did not give up on his dreams. He focused his animation skills. Probably, it was written in his stars that he would become a successful animator.

He got an opportunity to work with Kharisma Pictures. He became the proud director of Usop Sontorian in the year 1996. This was Malaysian Television’s first animated series.

He is man behind the creation of Malaysia’s first superhero, Keluang Man. He is considered to be a pioneer in the Malaysian animation industry. He is popularly known as the ‘Father of Malaysian animation’.

He has won several accolades and awards so far. He is known as a Malaysian Animation Icon.

As they say, what’s meant to be will be. Kamn Ismail’s story is an inspiration for the generations to come.
