Samsung upgrades all phones that address crucial security vulnerabilities with the December Update
Samsung is said to be carrying out the next app update, and several Galaxy smartphones in its portfolio are being made available. Although this may be a regular occurrence, this month’s Android security update seems to be of greater significance than other updates of this sort. Samsung also included Google’s Android security updates dated December 5, 2020, as part of its December 2020 product update, which substantially addresses security bugs in the Android system with approved high-level security vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities may have allowed hackers to carry out remote code execution, escalation of privilege, and denial of service attacks—three of the most popular types of cyber attacks carried out by attackers on the customer front to steal data, take over phone operations, and cause ransomware to block a user from their phone and force them to pay a ransom.
A total of 13 CVEs, which involve security breaches that may have enabled a wide variety of privacy and data breaches on mobile, were noted by Bleeping Machine, which monitored the security flaws that Samsung fixed in its new update. Flaws in remote code execution are among the most prominent security threats in software systems by far. Using these vulnerabilities, attackers will use different spam and spear-phishing methods to trick a user into downloading a file. This file can contain embedded macro codes, enabling the malware to run on your computer in turn. Suppose the malware is operating for multiple acts, such as calling on a remote server to download more malware, leveraging privilege escalation violations to control a computer. In that case, it checks for unpatched security flaws in the firmware code, and in the worse case situation, all activities concurrently seize over a consumer’s device.
These bugs may be especially critical, which makes the security update to Samsung’s December Android a very significant one. To remain protected from such bugs, users are urged to search for security patches on their phones and repair their devices as early as possible. While other device security vulnerabilities could exist in the form of zero-day exploits, those hazards will often be resolved every month, as is the case each year. However, the software update on some of the lower-ranking Galaxy smartphones with security updates dated only until December 1, 2020, seems to have been released by Samsung. Provided that Google released its security updates on December 5, many of the privacy and data threats listed will still be at risk for these phones. A corresponding security upgrade is scheduled to roll out very quickly for such users.
It is also expected that Samsung will launch its new generation of flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S21 series, next month at a virtual gathering. The new devices are supposed to be somewhat gradual in their upgrade design and may bring about an overall update to the already loaded Galaxy S20 series.
