Re-Branded Lumex Cores of ARM Tipped to Power the Next MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Flagship Chip, Along With the Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU

Last month in May 2025, via ARM’s newsroom, it was reported that a new naming system has been introduced at the company with clear identity for each compute platforms and understandable performance monikers for GPUs – giving both developers and customers a better idea. Now, it has been tipped that MediaTek’s next flagship Dimensity 9500 chip will also be making use of this new nomenclature.
Here’s more about it.
MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Flagship Chip to Use Lumex Cores and Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU?
This update comes from the tipster – @yabhishekhd and as per his X post, the upcoming Dimensity 9500 chip from MediaTek is said to come equipped with the re-branded Lumex cores (substituting the ‘Cortex’ naming), and be integrated with Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU. In related news, the recent Geekbench listing of the Dimensity 9500 chip also pointed to this same GPU of ARM with 1 MHz frequency, and the chipset is revealed to have a 1 + 3 + 4 core architecture. The same tipster also mentioned that the primary core is the Travis X930 (clocked at 3.23 GHz), coupled with three Alto cores (clocked at 3.03 GHz) and four Gelas cores (clocked at 2.23 GHz).
Speaking more, the ‘Lumex’ branding has been adopted for mobile, while the CPU cores for PC, automotive, IoT, and infrastructure will be re-branded by ARM as ‘Niva’, ‘Zena’, ‘Orbis’, and ‘Neoverser respectively. Apart from the ‘Ultra’ moniker, ARM GPUs will also be getting monikers like ‘Premium’, ‘Pro’, ‘Nano’, and ‘Pico’ to differentiate their performance capabilities.
Also, about the Dimensity 9500 flagship chip of MediaTek, it is expected to be unveiled by the end of this year in 2025 and this latest chipset is believed to power both large form factor and small form factor smartphone devices with possible full periscope telephoto camera capability.
Stay tuned for more updates.
