Realme India Revises Realme 16 Pro 5G Series Update Policy: 4 Major OS Upgrades and 6 Years of Security Updates Confirmed

Realme 16 Pro 5G series was launched in January 2026 in India and came with a promise of 3 major OS upgrades and 4 years of security patch updates. And since it came with realme UI 7 based on Android 16 OS, it was confirmed to get the Android 19 OS update as well. However, as per new details, the update policy has now been extended for this smartphone series in India.
Here is more to it.
Realme 16 Pro 5G Series Update Policy Extended
According to details shared by Realme India’s official X handle, the Realme 16 Pro 5G series, which includes the Realme 16 Pro 5G and the Realme 16 Pro 5G+, will now receive four major OS upgrades instead of three. This means both smartphones are confirmed to get the Android 20 update. Adding more to this, the security patch support has been extended from four years to six years.
Many smartphone manufacturers are now offering longer software support, and even Samsung has started providing six to seven years of OS upgrades for some of its budget devices. Extended update policies reduce the need for users to upgrade their smartphones simply because software support has ended.
At this time, this revised update policy has only been announced for India. While it is likely to be extended to other regions where the devices are available, Realme has not yet officially confirmed its expansion beyond the Indian market.
