Now sharing contacts, videos and images made easy with the iOS 17 AirDrop upgrade

Apple officially announced iOS 17 at WWDC, earlier this month with some of the coolest features. These features include a new interactive widget, a brand new journal app, and offline usage of maps. One that has grabbed the eyeballs is the AirDrop upgrade which iPhone users usually use to share things like photos, documents, and location from their iPhone to their friends. The iOS 17, AirDrop will make the use more versatile than ever before.

Note: This feature is currently available only on the beta 2 version, however, we can expect this to be there in the upcoming iOS 17 update. You can check if your iPhone is eligible for this upcoming iOS 17 update

AirDrop’s new feature NameDrop

NameDrop is a new feature introduced to AirDrop that makes it simple for two iPhone users to share contact than earlier. Earlier users were required to open their phone, select the contact, and then “Share Contact” followed by picking the person they want to AirDrop a contact to.

NameDrop feature will let users share contacts by simply bringing their phones close together. As soon as you do it, you will see a newly introduced contact poster that appears during phone calls. And then you can easily choose the phone number you want to share the contact with.

The company said that the same feature of bringing phones together can be used to share photos or large video files. “We’re also using this same gesture to make it easier than ever to AirDrop content and even kick off shared experiences,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, during the event. “When you want to share the stunning photos you took on your latest adventure, just bring your phones close together.”
