WhatsApp 126.96.36.199 Beta Update
Reports in the past had revealed that WhatsApp will be bringing a lot of new updates and features to the platform and following it, a new beta update is currently being rolled out to Android devices. WhatsApp will be updated to firmware version 188.8.131.52 with the beta update and what comes as a surprise is that, the new update points to an interesting feature that WhatsApp will be bringing to its platform.
As understood from the new beta update, WhatsApp will be introducing usernames and the screenshot pointing to it has been given below for reference.
However, the feature is still not yet available and is currently under development but, a section dedicated to it can be found on the “Profile” page in WhatsApp “Settings”.
With usernames, not just an additional layer of security will be added, but WhatsApp users will be able to connect with other users with the usernames without having their phone numbers.
These are just speculations regarding how the feature might work and in order to know more about it we’ll have to wait until the feature becomes fully available. What can be assured is that, chats that are initiated via usernames will also be end-to-end encrypted and will be completely protected.
