Google Brings New Layout Editor Tool in Gmail: Create Fully Customized Announcements, Newsletters, and More

The California-based tech giant, Alphabet Inc.’s Google, has brought a new layout editor tool in its email service provider – Gmail. This will enable users to create announcements, newsletters, and more that are fully customizable.

New Layout Editor Tool for Gmail

Google back in 2022 had brought the option to send emails that are professional in appearance, send announcements, and even newsletters with the help of layouts. Pre-designed email templates that can also be customized accordingly were part of this. Later in 2023, the brand had even introduced more functionalities such as the customization of existing template, re-using custom layout in various email campaigns, and so on.

Now, users can create customized email layout in Gmail, as well as in Drive, through the new layout editor tool. The new layout editor tool can be accessed from the compose screen, and using which, creating email layouts from scratch or selecting from a set of email templates is possible. Elements such as images, color schemes, text elements, footer texts, and links/buttons can be added too. If another user is given the access to edit, the same layout can be opened in a second Gmail (or Drive) platform to perform real time edits.

For admins, the feature will be turned on by default, and if it is turned on for end users, they can access it on both Gmail and Drive. The rollout of this feature for embedded layout editor in Gmail’s compose window will begin from March 12th and April 8th 2024 respectively for rapid release and scheduled release domains. Just to add, full screen editor for email layouts and feature availability on Drive will be rolled out for rapid release and scheduled release domains starting from March 25th and April 15th respectively.

Availability will be for the Workspace Business Standard, Workspace Business Plus, Workspace Enterprise Standard, Workspace Enterprise Plus, Workspace Education Standard, Workspace Education Plus, and also for the Workspace Individual subscribers.
