Twitter Updates Voice DMs features for iOS and Android in India, Japan, Brazil
Twitter, the microblogging website has recently rolled out an experimental feature that allows users to send recorded voice messages via direct messages. This new messaging feature is currently being tested in India. Starting today, this feature will be released in India, Japan and Brazil in a phased manner. Back in June, the audio tweets were made public as the company began testing it for iOS users.
It has a set limit of 140 seconds of audio.
However, during the feature’s trial in 2020, it was made available only for iOS users but in India; But now starting from 17 February, this feature will be rolled out for both Android and iOS users in just three countries i.e. India, Japan and Brazil.
The Managing Director of Twitter India, Manish Maheshwari said, “India is a priority market for Twitter and that is why we’re constantly testing new features and learning from people’s experience on the service here. We’re excited to bring the voice messages in DMs experiment to the country and give people a new way to express themselves and help them connect through the nuances, emotion, and empathy built by hearing someone’s voice,”
How to tweet Voice DMs on Twitter?
- On the Tweet composer, there will be an option of Voice recording after the application is updated.
- Tap on the voice recording icon to begin recording.
- Tap the icon again to stop recording
- The user can also check/listen to the recording before sending/posting it.
- Once done recording, the user has to swipe up and release the icon to publish/send it.
These Voice Tweets will appear on the users follower’s timelines alongside other tweets. The user can tap the image to listen to the tweet.
