OnePlus, the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer, unveiled the rebranded version of the Ace 3 smartphone – the 12R device last month(23rd January 2024) in India, and it was made available for purchase in the Indian market early this month(6th February 2024).
An unexpected issue has occurred as OnePlus failed to inform the correct storage details of the 12R model. The brand is now revealed to be planning on making an attempt to compensate its customers over the matter.

OnePlus 12R – Storage Issue and Compensation
The OnePlus 12R smartphone was introduced for the brand’s Indian customers with two storage options – 8GB/128GB and 16GB/256GB, at respective prices of Rs. 39,999 and Rs. 45,999. Initially, the official website of OnePlus had mentioned the 8GB/128GB variant to support UFS 3.1, whereas the 16GB/256GB variant to have the UFS 4.0 storage. However, later it was understood that both the storage variants have the same UFS 3.1 storage itself.
OnePlus made the necessary changes afterwards, but by the time many customers had already purchased the 12R 16GB/256GB device paying an extra Rs. 6,000 for the UFS 4.0 storage support. The brand has apologized for the mistake in communication, and has added that the UFS 3.1 will still offer fast performance as on the previous 11 series devices.
Even after this, the brand has been receiving a lot of inquiries via their support. To compensate for the loss caused for their 12R 16GB/256GB model customers, the brand will be taking the needed actions and will be providing the required compensation. It will be announced two days later, on the 15th of February 2024.
