Stadia will be launched on November 19 in selected markets across the world

On November 19, 2019, Google Stadia will be launched across the globe. But it’s major feature i.e the “Wireless Play” will not be ready in time. The Stadia controller will only work wirelessly with Chromecast Ultra and needs to be attached to all other compatible devices, including the Pixel 4 and other phones, using a USB-C cable. Eventually, it will only support smartphones starting from the Pixel 2 series onwards at launch.

As per a Reddit post by a Google community manager, a Stadia Controller is required in order to play games through the Chromecast Ultra that’s connected to a TV. “As for wireless gameplay, this is limited to Chromecast Ultra. When plugged in via USB cable, the Stadia Controller acts as a standard USB HID controller and may work on other platforms depending on the game and setup,” the post stated.

Also, if you look at a YouTube video posted by Stadia, it is clear that while Stadia works wirelessly through a Chromecast device on a TV, it can also work with computers and smartphones but with a USB Type-C cable which will connect the Stadia controller and the screen that you will be using for streaming a game.

Google Stadia was first unveiled, earlier this year in March and being wireless was one of the highlighted features of the Stadia system. It will be launched on November 19 in selected markets across the world at a price of $9.99 per month.
