Google Pixel 7 Series fails to authenticate payments through Face Unlock

In the race of competing with Apple, Google added some new features to its newly launched Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. But now it has been facing many complaints from users like phone camera crashes, inconsistent scrolling, and the many it is unable to make contactless payments from Face Unlock like iPhone.

There have been many reactions from people on Reddit claiming many flaws in the Pixel 7 series. Due to this, they can’t make payments via Google Pay as the devices ask them to use other unlock options.

Why is the Google Pixel 7 facing a face unlock issue?

Google in context to this states that it’s still not safe to verify mobile payments through Face Unlock. As it also faces issues in low light and there are several chances that another person could also be able to unlock the device.

However, the iPhone uses an infrared camera for Face Id, which can detect the face even in low light.

Google also added that it’s still not safe to use Google Pixel 7 Face unlock as photographs can also be used to unlock it. And it’s still working on ideas requiring people to smile, blink their eyes and make other expressions.
