Battlefield 2042 Subreddit might be banned because of toxicity

Battlefield 2042’s subreddit moderation team has warned fans that if the level of toxicity on the feed continues to rise, they will not hesitate to shut down the space. The announcement follows the r/Halo subreddit’s own temporary lockdown following similarly toxic behavior from some members.

The warning, reported by PC Gamer, comes after a wealth of angry responses were posted in response to now-deleted tweets from EA Global Communications Director Andy McNamara.
McNamara’s tweets appear to be a reaction to the Battlefield community after it criticized DICE for a lack of communication and further improvements to the game during a period of vacation for many staff members at the studio.

Upon returning to work today, McNamara noted that Battlefield fans were pissed that they had not received enough updates or communication over the holiday break. “Guys, people gotta rest. We have things in motion but we have to figure out what is possible […] Let us get back from break and get back to work. Love you guys but these expectations are brutal. The things you want take time to scope, design, and execute.”
In response to McNamara’s comments, a thread was created on the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, where anger toward the studio and its employees escalated into insults from some parties. It was then that the moderation team behind the subreddit intervened, issuing a warning to those who were violating the forum’s rules.

McCNamara has since taken down his original tweets from Twitter, instead apologizing to fans for not making his message clear enough. There have been a number of angry responses since then.

One fan writes, “The message was clear from launch.”. “Stop looking for sympathy and start finding solutions. Your idea that we should be able to work some of those things out shouldn’t be hard as some of those things were in previous games. Keep my $100. Sure it’s money lost. But it’s $100 knowing never to touch my BF again.”.
