Spotify announces rise in monthly premium subscription costs from £11.99 to £12.99 for UK subscribers; Will be effective in November billing cycle

Back in August 2025, Spotify raised the premium subscription price from €10.99 to €11.99 for subscribers across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific regions. Meanwhile, British subscribers also experienced a £1 increase in spring 2024, when individual subscriptions moved from £10.99 to £11.99 monthly.
Well, the streaming platform has once again announced a rise in the monthly premium subscription price for UK subscribers. As per the notification email, the monthly premium subscription costs would increase from £11.99 to £12.99 for individual accounts in the November billing cycle. The company stated, “The price of Premium Individual is increasing so that we can invest in our product, develop new features, and continue to bring you the best experience.”

Individual plans increase by £1 monthly, while Duo subscriptions rise from £16.99 to £17.99, and family plans climb from £19.99 to £21.99. Student subscription remains unchanged at £5.99 per month.
Current subscribers will receive one month at their existing rate before transitioning to the new pricing structure. Subscribers unwilling to accept the pricing can cancel before their November billing date.
Premium subscribers gain access to ad-free listening, unlimited song skipping, offline downloads, on-demand playback functionality, AI DJ Tool, access to podcasts with embedded sponsorship messages, and lossless audio streaming.
It is said that after the price increase announcement in August 2025, Spotify’s shares rose 5% in premarket trading. This response seems to have given investors confidence in the company’s pricing power and subscriber retention capabilities despite competitive market conditions. Currently, Spotify has 276 million Premium subscribers globally.
