New Spotify Features Let You Snooze Songs, Customise Playlists, and Take Control of Your Queue

Spotify is rolling out a bunch of new features aimed at making music discovery and playlist management feel easier and more personal, especially for Premium users.

Starting today, Premium subscribers will notice an upgraded Queue experience in the Now Playing view. It’s now cleaner and more user-friendly, with quicker access to Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer. You’ll also be able to see Spotify’s recommended songs that follow your queue, and if you’d rather keep things fully in your control, Autoplay and Smart Shuffle can now be easily turned off in your settings.

There are a couple of thoughtful updates to help you skip the songs you’re not feeling. The Hide button has been redesigned so it’s easier to use and works across all devices—once you hide a track from a playlist, it stays hidden. And Spotify is testing a new Snooze feature for Premium users, which lets you temporarily remove a song from your recommendations for 30 days. It’s a softer way to take a break from overplayed tracks without cutting them out forever.

Playlists are also getting more customisable. On mobile, you’ll now see Add, Sort, and Edit options at the top of each playlist, so you can reorder songs, rename the list, or switch up the cover art more easily. And for users in countries like the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, and others, you can now turn your Liked Songs into a playlist by filtering them by genre and tapping a new “turn into a playlist” option.

Creating and collaborating on playlists is getting easier, too. The new Create button, found as a “+” at the bottom right of the app, lets you start a playlist, join a Blend with friends, or use tools like Jam and AI Playlist (available for Premium users in supported regions). The AI Playlist feature, which builds playlists from your ideas and prompts, is also expanding to more markets.

And if you’re looking for your library, don’t worry—it hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s just moved slightly and now sits as the third icon at the bottom of the app on mobile.

Spotify says this rollout is gradual, so users can expect to see the changes pop up over the coming days.
