Google’s Voice-Activated Emergency SOS Feature – Spotted in Personal Safety App Code

There is a new voice-activated Emergency SOS feature that has now been spotted in the Personal Safety App code with build version 2026.09.16.982745548 by Android Headlines, which will allow users to request help by saying “Help” three times, as indicated by a setup animation. But there is an additional step: according to the code strings, a verbal confirmation will also be required, where if a user says “Yes”, it will send the SOS and “Cancel” will stop it.

<string name=”add_hh_way_to_start”>Add hands-free way to start</string>
<string name=”demo_voice_cancel_desc_text”>Say “cancel” to dismiss Emergency SOS</string>
<string name=”demo_voice_touch_and_hold_title_text”>Say “yes” to continue</string>

Speaking more about the features, it will also trigger real-time location sharing, emergency video recording, and calling first responders once the SOS is activated. To note, the existing Emergency SOS feature can be triggered by pressing the power button five times, while the voice command could provide another way to activate it.

Regarding availability, the feature may first come to Pixel smartphone users, with support for other Android devices possibly following later. However, its availability on Samsung smartphones remains unclear, as the brand already offers its own built-in SOS features.

While this new feature has been found in the latest code string, its launch isn’t confirmed at the moment.

Stay tuned for more updates!
