Google Brings a ‘Verified’ Badge for Trustworthy VPN Apps on Play Store

The California-based tech maker, Alphabet Inc.-owned Google, has brought a ‘Verified’ badge for VPN apps on its Play Store platform. It is revealed to be given only for VPN applications that prioritize user privacy and safety.

Verified Badge for VPN Apps on Play Store?

As per what has been shared, Google’s app store – Google Play is now displaying a ‘Verified’ badge for genuine and trustworthy VPN applications, and already a few VPN apps have received it by now. As expected the criteria put forward by Google Play requires the app to ensure user privacy and safety in order to get the ‘Verified’ badge. Moreover, the ‘Verified’ badge is also expected to help users to make an informed decision regarding which app to download and use. With the assurance of user privacy and safety, users can also be worry-free and download the VPN with confidence and without any risks.

In order to get the ‘Verified’ badge, there are a few other guidelines too that the VPN app must meet. This includes adhering to the Google Play safety and security guidelines as well as the successful completion of a MASA Level 2 validation (Mobile Application Security Assessment Level 2 Validation). The app must also have at the least a total of 10,000 installs and 250 reviews, and should have been listed on Google Play for a minimum of 90 days. To add, a Data Safety Section Declaration should also be submitted at the time of opting into independent security review and encryption in transit.

Speaking more, few of the VPN apps that have already got the ‘Verified’ badge are Nord VPN, Hide.Me VPN, and Aloha Browser. So users, next time when you are about to download a VPN app on your device, just look out for the ‘Verified’ badge and confidently download one which has it.
