Apple x Jio Partnership to Bring RCS Messaging Capability for Indian iPhone Users

The Cupertino-based tech maker – Apple has now partnered with India’s biggest telecom providers – Reliance Jio, and this partnership aims to bring encrypted RCS messaging capability for iPhone users in the Indian market. This would significantly change the messaging experience of Indian iPhone users, and will also let them access and make use of more tools and functionalities.

Apple x Jio – New RCS Messaging Capability for iPhone Users in India

While the next iPhone 17 series launch is expected to take place early next month globally (probably at the brand’s 9th September 2o25 ‘Awe-dropping’ event), Apple has joined hands together with Reliance Jio. With this alliance, Apple’s iPhone users in the Indian market will soon be receiving the RCS (or Rich Communication Services) messaging capability and it will enhance the Indian iPhone users’ messaging experience. Following the roll-out, features such as Blue ticks (sent or read notifications), typing indicators, group chats, and high quality image/video transfer (~ mobile data/WiFi connection needed*). All of these will be offered to iPhone users of India at no extra cost.

The above-mentioned features are something that is already available on messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, however the RCS messaging functionality will be a native feature. Moreover, while the partnership is beneficial for Apple to improve its user experience, it is also believed to draw more subscribers into taking a Jio connection to enjoy the RCS messaging features.

About Apple’s iPhone 17 series, a lot about the upcoming devices have already been shared over the past few months. Four new smartphone models can be expected under the iPhone 17 series, and this will include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max devices.
