Microsoft Releases the Visual Studio October 2025 Update: Copilot Memories, Claude Sonnet & Haiku in Chat, Instruction Files, and More

The American technology company – Microsoft has now brought out the October 2025 update for Visual Studio (version 17.14). Improvements to model choices as well as agentic flows are part of this latest update.

With the October 2025 update, Microsoft has introduced Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5 in chat, and these can be used to drive their agentic workflows. Memories is another addition to this latest update, with which, Copilot will be able to remember project preferences and thereafter help in keeping them documented – up to date. The built-in Planning offers its users more reliable response as well as transparency from the agent when performing long running tasks. Instruction Files which offers tailored instructions for file types and areas of codebase, bring-in own models via Azure Foundry in chat, and chat commands like ‘/clear’ or ‘/clearAll’ for managing thread history are other changelogs of the latest Visual Studio October 2025 update.

In related news, the brand recently had rolled out the new KB5068516 and KB5067040 for Windows 11 (version 24H2, version 25H2) and for Windows Server 2025. Microsoft from the 3rd of November 2025 has also started making use of LinkedIn data to train their AI models, and users who are not interested in it can still opt out of it by going to the Linkedin Settings and turning off the Data for Generative AI Improvement option.
