Adobe’s Project Indigo – Unveiled for iPhone Users

The Project Indigo camera app from Adobe has been unveiled to address the limitations of the default camera that comes pre-installed in all smartphone devices, and it priorities image fidelity. In most cases, images captured with the default camera app are usually unnatural and far away from true when displayed on larger display screens – because of the over exposure, over smoothening, and over saturation. Adobe’s camera app on the other hand is capable of capturing up to 32 frames per shot, which is then merged to offer a better image output.

Speaking more, two camera modes are offered to users within the Project Indigo camera app – ‘Photo’ and ‘Night’. The former is for taking regular day shots, whereas the latter is intended to click shots in lower lighting conditions. Also, manual controls for shutter speed, aperture, focus, ISO, white balance, temperature, and tint can be accessed by users within the app. As indicated above, the multi-frame super resolution capability that stacks multiple frames of the same scene to create sharper and detailed images is also a standout feature of the app. SDR (standard dynamic range) + HDR (high dynamic range) image storage also provides Camera Raw and Lightroom-compatible DSLR-style output. Noise removal, reflection removal, and more such features are also made available to users.

About its availability details, as of now, it is only available to iPhone users – on iPhone 12 Pro series and later and also on certain non-pro models from iPhone 14 series. The app is completely free of cost, and users won’t have to sign-in to make use of it. Also to add, on a later stage, Adobe’s Project Indigo will also be made available to Android users as well.
