Virat Kohli not fit, set to miss 2nd ODI as well?

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who had to miss out on the first ODI against England on Tuesday due to groin injury, is likely to to be out of the playing XI from the second ODI as well.

According to ANI sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Virat is still yet to recover from his groin injury and is unlikely to play in the second ODI on Thursday against the Englishman.

Shreyas Iyer took the spot of Virat Kohli at the Kennington Oval during the first ODI. However, due to the unbeaten partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, no other batter got the chance at the crease. India took the lead in the series by 1-0 with a 10 wicket win against England.

Rohit made 76 and Shikhar scored 31 to help the Men in Blue chase down a target of 111 in just 18.4 overs. The showstopper was Jasprit Bumrah who scalped 6 wickets for 19 runs.

The teams now will go head to head in the second ODI on Thursday at Lord’s, London.

From the past couple of years, Virat Kohli is going through a rough patch in his career, the batter has not managed to get the big ones on most occasions. With his uncertainty of now in the ODI series, his place in white ball cricket is already under extreme supervision and analysis.
