Ukraine’s top-listed basketball players

The Ukrainian Basketball superleague was established back in 1992.

Nowadays, Ukraine is all we can hear in the news. The sudden invasion by Russia in Ukraine is totally devastating and heart wrenching.

Talking about basketball, the Ukrainian Basketball superleague is the first level to be cleared for getting into a professional basketball league. This was established back in 1992 and currently the Ukrainian Basketball superleague is contested by 10 clubs.

The league keeps a regular season in which the teams play for face off followed by which, the Ukrainian Champion is disclosed. The winners are further selected for the qualification round for BCL (Basketball Champions League).

Team Budivelnyk is the most successful in the history of the league with 10 titles.

Ukraine has introduced a number of talented basketball players to the world in recent years. Many Ukrainian players are also a part of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Out of so many outstanding players, these people have made it to the top list by their hardwork and dedication towards the game.

•Top 5 Ukraine Basketball Players are as follow :-

1)Alex Len – Alex is an Ukrainian Basketball player who plays for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He scored his career – high 33points, including a career-best six 3 pointers in a 115- 107 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

2)Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk – Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk is also a professional basketball player and plays for the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association. In 2012-2014 he played for Cherkaski Mavpy in the Ukrainian Basketball Superleague. He also played for the Ukrainian national team at the FIBA World Cup in 2014.

3)Vitaly Potapenko – Vitaly played for his college basketball team at Wright State University and got selected for 12th Overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1996. He also played for the Boston Celtics, Seattle Supersonic and Sacramento Kings of the NBA. When he was retiring as a player, Vitaly Potapenko was selected as an assistant coach for Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Indiana Pacers, the Dakota Wizards and the Santa Cruz.

Later, in 2013 he was confirmed as an assistant director of the player development for Cleveland Cavaliers and after 3 years of serving as assistant director, the Cleveland Cavaliers won their first NBA Finals Championship.

4)Oleksiy Pecherov – Pecherov played for Washington Wizards, Minnesota Timberwolves and last he played for Hekmeh of the FLB league. He is also a member of the Ukraine national basketball team.

5) Alexander Sizonenko – Alexander was born in the city of Zaporizhia, Ukraine who was considered as the tallest basketball player ever. He was also measured by the Guinness World records and was named as the tallest man in 1991. He played for Spartak Leningrad and Stroitel Kuybyshev.
