Top Rugby players from USA

Dan Lyle

The first professional star in America, Lyle has helped revolutionize the No. 8 position, using his basketball and football experience to become the best open-field runner, best lineout force and the best restart winner in the world. Lyle paved the way for Americans from 1996 and beyond to play professional rugby because he was excellent from day one and his team won, the 1998 European Championship.

Chris Wyles

Born in the States but raised in the United Kingdom, Wyles found a career in rugby and joined the USA Sevens team in 2006. Within a year, he was a shining player for the team and became its captain. Afterwards, he became the USA 15s team’s starting fullback.

He has never looked back after that. He has 54 caps for the USA and is placed third all-time in points for the Eagles. With Saracens, the club won four Premiership titles and two European Championships with Wyles.

Samu Manoa

Signed by Northampton in 2011, he was nobody in the field. Eventually, after a year he was possibly the most popular player in the Premiership. He was fully engaging as a player. Moreover, Polynesian-American player to make it big in Europe. His American ways blew fans away and it will not be biased to say there was no one like him.

Blaine Scully

Favourite in the Leicester and now in Cardiff, Scully is intelligent and manipulative as well. He plays hard and has earned respect as a leader and a student of the game. Arguable the best in the USA as there is currently.

AJ MacGinty

The player has now become somewhat of a specialist, but he has made an enormous impact. It has been rare for a USA flyhalf to get regular playing time on a professional team in Europe. Though he is not the most recognized in the game, but he has surely created a mark for himself.

Luke Gross

The 6 ft 9 inch hailing from Indiana began as a pro in 1997, the same time when British rugby was entering into the professional era. He continued to play throughout the 2006-07 season. Rovigo, Newcastle, Doncaster, Scarlets, Roma are some of the teams he has played for in the past. Gross, however, has spent almost a decade in the field making it big and being a huge hit.
