Top players of Manchester United and Manchester City

Carlos Tevez

Under the coaching of Sir Alex Ferguson, Tevez was a pivotal part of the Red Devils. With his first stint with Man United, he lifted the UEFA Champions League and Premier League in his debut season. The Argentine has shared a great rapport with fellow teammates Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Tevez shocked the whole Manchester by opting to sign for City after the expiration of his complexed two year loan with the United. As far as his stint with City is concerned, he scored 73 goals in his four years, including an FA Cup and Premier League title along the way.

Peter Schmeichel

Peter’s move to Man City, was a complete shock and betrayed step for the United fans. Man United veteran Gary Neville was the most upset when he heard about Schmeichel transfer to City in 2002. He was the core member of the Red Devils triumph journey in the 1990s. Moreover, Old Trafford were not able to replace the goalkeeper for quite some time. The man is probably the best Danish keeper and the best of all time in football history.

Andy Cole

The Englishman switched to Manchester United in January 1995 from Newcastle United. His goal- scoring ability improved steadily, he made 12 goals in 18 league appearances in his first half season at the Old Trafford. However, in the year 2002, Cole decided to join the City, and at that time he had 121 goals for the Red Devils.

Owen Hargreaves

Owen signed up for the Red Devils in 2007 for 17 million pound sterling. He was the go to person for the Red Devils and Sir Ferguson never hesitated about that. He lifted both the Premier League and the Champions League title with United. Although, Manchester City came knocking on his door in the year 2011. His fitness wasn’t at its peak best, with the midfielder playing just one game in the EPL, he retired the next summer.

Denis Law

He is Man United’s third highest goalscorer of all time and took United to two league titles, an FA Cup and the 1968 European Cup under Matt Busby. He won six trophies in his time at United and picked up the Ballon d’Or in 1964 as part of Manchester United. He ended up with City in 1973 in the last stages of his career, famously he scored against the Red Devils on the day of the Citizens relegation was confirmed.
