Manisha Kalyan; first footballer to play UEFA Champions League

Manisha Kalyan, Indian women’s football player has scripted history and made 18 August a special day for herself, she became the first Indian to play in UEFA Champions League (Women’s). Manisha Kalyan played in the match between Apollon Ladies FC and SFK Rige in the qualifying group stage match of the marquee tournament.

Manisha Kalyan had an amazing 2019-20 season of the Indian Women’s League which earned her a way into the national side

The winger played for Gokulam Kerala FC and was crowned the emerging player of the tournament and thus, leading her side to it’s maiden Indian women league (IWL) title.

The new star on the block has recently signed up for the Cyprus champions and featured in the clash by coming on as a substitute player. Manisha came off the bench for Apollon Ladies FC in the 60th minute of the game wearing the number 12 jersey.

Moreover, Manisha was also a part of India’s U-17 team for the BRICS Cup which was held in South Africa ans she was also the player of the year in the recently held AIFF awards too. Furthermore, Manisha became the first footballer to score a goal against Brazil in a 6-1 loss for India.
