Lovepreet Singh wins bronze in 109kg final at Commonwealth Games 2022

Weightlifter Lovepreet Singh has pulled off another pride for the Indians, he lifted 355 kg to win bronze in the men’s 109kg weightlifting final. India’s medal tally in the Commonwealth Games 2022 event to nine medals. Lovepreet lifted best of 163 in snatch to go with 192 kg in Clean and Jerk to finish on the podium.

Lovepreet has set the bar rather high, with two more weightlifters in action also later, he pulled off six lifts successfully, en route to creating a new Clean and Jerk National Record. He began with a lead of 159kg in his first snatch attempt, he then went on to lead with 161kg and finally nailing the 163kg lift with ease, pulling off the thigh-five celebration.

Moreover, Lovepreet will take home his first CWG medal, he started off his journey in 2010 at just 13 years old and after lots of struggle he made a big name for himself at the National level, with 7 years of hard work and determination to be inducted in the Indian National camp.

Also, Lovepreet has been an integral member of the Indian National Camp in heavy weight category since 2017.
