Journey of the RR captain in IPL 2022

Sanju Samson is one of the most prolific names in the IPL, having played a majority of his career at Rajasthan Royals from 2013 – 2015 and then again from 2018 – present. He had a short stint with the Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) for two years.

He was then the youngest player in IPL to score a half century in 2013, he also won the Best Young Player award of 2013 season with 206 runs and six stumpings to his name in 10 innings.

In IPL 2021, he was named captain of RR, he scored a century in his first match as captain, becoming the first IPL captain to achieve this record. In IPL 2021, he also completed 3000 runs.

As far as IPL 2022 is concerned, the Kerala player has scored 421 runs in 15 innings with an average of just over 30 and an impressive strike rate of 150. He has scored two half centuries till now and also contributed a crucial 26 ball 47 in the Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans.

Rajasthan Royals have had an impressive journey in IPL 2022 with the likes of Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer and Prasidh Krishna contributing at times in the teams favor.

Samson also managed to get the inaugural champions to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
