India’s journey at the CWG 2022 till now….

The Commonwealth Games 2022 are underway in the United Kingdom, in the city of Birmingham, a city which is very close to the Indians. The tournament will be held from 28 July to 8 August 2022. It is India’s 18th appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

106 men and 104 women were announced which would take part in 16 sports, the list came out in July 2022. Hockey player Manpreet Singh and badminton player P.V. Sindhu were selected as the flagbearers in the competition.

The first glory came when Sanket Sargar won a silver medal in weightlifting, which opened India’s medal tally.

Although, 3*3 basketball, beach volleyball, netball and rugby sevens are some of the sports in which India are not competing. Indian para athletes are competing in athletics, para powerlifting, swimming and table tennis.

Moreover, by holding discussions with the IOA and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, the federation determined that India would, subject to qualification, participate in the Commonwealth hockey tournaments.

By far, the team has put up a great show and sheer consistency, hardwork and execution has been seen in the past few days. This is also India’s best performance in any Commonwealth Games edition.
