Indian test Squad announced: Ajinkya Rahane will lead the team in 1st Match in New Zealand series

Indian Cricket team is going to clash with New zealand in two-match Test series starting from November 25. The Indian team squad has been selected by the All-India Senior Selection Committee for the upcoming series. According to which, Ajinkya Rahane is going to lead the team in the first match, Rohit Sharma is on rest for both the matches and Virat Kohli for 1st match and will then lead the team in the second match.

Now Rahane will get a chance to prove himself as many fans and experts were of the opinion that he should be dropped from the test side as the veteran batsman has not showed his game since a while. As per the new workload management policy of BCCI, the new T20 captain and regular opener Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami will all be on rest for the series.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated, “Virat Kohli will join the squad for the second Test and will lead the team” and to complete the team, Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer and off-spinner Jayant Yadav made a comeback in the Indian squad. The vice-captain of the side will be Cheteshwar Pujara with KS Bharat and Wriddhiman Saha as the two wicketkeepers in the squad.

There will be a total of three T20Is (November 17, 19 and 21) and two Tests (November 25-29 and December 3-7) in the series. The first test match will be organized at Kanpur and the second will take place at Mumbai from 3rd December.
