India vs England, 5th Test, Day 1; Kohli’s bad form continues at Birmingham

India take on England in the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgebaston, India were 53/2 at lunch, which was earlier then planned due to light drizzling. Shubman Gill started off good, but could not take it to a big score as he fell as victim to James Anderson. England won the toss and elected to field first.

Second opener, Cheteshwar Pujara also headed back to the pavilion after he got dismissed by veteran Anderson on just 11. After the dismissal of openers, Virat Kohli joined Hanuma Vihari before rain interrupted play. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah is leading the team as skipper Rohit Sharma has tested Covid positive.

The match is a part of last years five match Test series that had to be delayed after the fourth Test due to the Covid – 19 outbreak in the Indian dugout. The Men in Blue lead the series 2 – 1.
The score at the moment is 107/5 in 30 overs, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja are on the crease with the scores of 17 & 5 respectively.

After the Test match, the two teams will square off in a three match T20I series followed by One Day Internationals.
