Former Cricket South Africa Director has been cleared out from his racism charges, Cricket South Africa announced on Sunday. Two independent arbitrators found that there was no evidence to confirm that Smith had shown racial basis in three situations. The two arbitrators, Advocate Ngwako Maenetjie and Advocate Michael Bishop set a process in which Smith and CSA had legal representations and witnesses were also called.
The allegation was that Smith had discriminated Thami Tsolekile, a wicket keeper, after Mark Boucher was injured in a test series in England in 2012. In the absence, AB de Villiers had kept the wickets in the series with South Africa had won.
Smith was also accused of racially being biased against black leadership because of which he did not wanted to report to Thabang Moroe, who was eventually dismissed in later half of 2020 for misconduct.
No evidence was found of racial discrimination in the presence of Mark Boucher as head coach.
