Babar Azam take on Virat Kohli’s current time on the field

With the recently concluded ODI series against the Windies, the Men in Blue completely whitewashed the island nation under Shikhar Dhawan’s leadership. Now, Rohit Sharma is back as captain and is leading the troop in the ongoing T20I.

The series marks the return of many first choice players, but likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are still missing. Former Indian skipper is going facing a hard time at the crease over the past few months.

The Former Pakistan all rounder Mohammed Hafeez has said that Kohli has taken too much of “mental pressure” and needs a break to get back at his best.

“Virat Kohli is one of the best players of the past 10 years. I think he is also facing the same problem.. he needed a break because he had too much mental pressure. Their decision to rest Virat for this series was the best decision for him,” said Hafeez on Dawn.

Hafeez has also claimed that his ex Pakistani teammate Hasan Ali also should been given a break long ago as the bowler was suffering serious mental pressure.

Kohli has lost his “impact” since the past 2-3 years and moreover, the half century against Pakistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup was also “impactless”.

“I think Virat Kohli is an impact player. In the past 2-3 years, we saw that the impact wasn’t there. Even when he scored the half-century against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup last year, that was, to me, impactless. Until you can’t bring an impact, there’s no point of you playing. Every player requires a break. The Indian board made a good decision. This break will help him get back to becoming an impact player. He had lost his impact.” added Mohammed Hafeez.

Virat had a string of low scores on the England tour, he never crossed more than 20 with the bat across all his innings. The RCB player will hopefully making a return to the Indian side in the Asia Cup in UAE which starts in late August.
