3 players who can captain team India in Test Cricket!

Virat Kohli, the national team’s Test skipper, has decided to step down in a spectacular turn of events. He was the mastermind behind India’s success in the tournament. After dropping down the ICC rankings, Team India went on to become the best team in the world under his leadership.

Kohli went on to win 40 Test matches for Team India in 68 games. He will undoubtedly be remembered as the “greatest” Indian Test skipper. His captaincy had no effect on his battering performance, and he led his squad from the front.

It is now, however, time for the management to look for a new skipper. Because Kohli has laid the groundwork, the incoming Test captain will be in a better position because he will have access to all of the resources. Let’s take a look at the top three players who could succeed him as India’s Test captain:

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma

When we hear the word captain, the first name that springs to mind is Rohit Sharma. As a result of Rahane’s failure to contribute to the team’s success, Rohit was named vice-captain. As a result, he will almost definitely be the national team’s next Test captain.

Sharma has improved as a Test player in recent years. He’s done a good job of leaving the ball in good hands and cashing in when the stakes were high. He was Team India’s most valuable player during the recently finished series against England.

Despite the fact that Sharma has never commanded the team in Test cricket, he has the perfect ally in Virat Kohli. Sharma is under less pressure than Virat in 2014, thanks to a strong bowling group. However, Rohit’s biggest issue with becoming captain is that he only has about five years of cricket left in him. This is because he has recently been dealing with some fitness difficulties.

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul

KL After being dropped from the side during the 2019 home season, Rahul has made a remarkable comeback in Test cricket. Mayank was injured in Australia, but because to his poor form, he was given the opportunity to open for India during the England series. And, luckily for him, he was in excellent shape.

Rahul has a calm and collected demeanour. He has been the ideal hitter for Kohli in the last year, with seven hundreds to his name. Kohli may hand over the reins to Rahul as his successor because he is a mature senior player in the team.

Rahul does not bring much to the table despite his IPL captaincy experience. However, his character allows him to lead the team to be as constant as it was throughout Kohli’s reign. The future of the limited-overs deputy captain will be determined by management, who must decide whether or not to split captaincy across forms.

3. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is regarded as one of the top wicketkeeper-batters in the world. He plays with an attacking style that keeps the crowd entertained. His daring attitude toward the game is similar to Kohli’s.

Pant should be given the opportunity to lead the squad because he is young. Over time, he will rise through the ranks to become the team’s captain. It would be more natural to name him as the team’s captain.

Pant has racked up centuries in a variety of situations. He hit a stunning century against South Africa in the just finished Test series, while others failed. Pant, without a question, has the proper attitude to lead the squad, especially with Kohli and Rohit around him.
