Rajnath Singh meets Uzbekistan’s Defence Minister in Tashkent

On Tuesday, India’s Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh meets Uzbekistan’s Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Bakhodir Nizamovich Kurbanov in Tashkent.

Singh said that during their talks, they assessed India’s defence relationship with Uzbekistan. He further says that their cooperation is based on a solid foundation and it’ll continue to grow over the coming decades, ANI reports.

The Indian defence minister is visiting Tashkent from August 23 to 25 to attend the Annual Meeting of the Defence Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) the Member States.

The problems of Defence Cooperation among the SCO Member States will be taken into account during the Annual Meeting, and a common communique is scheduled to be published following the deliberations. The meeting’s speech by Singh is scheduled for August 24, 2022.

Discussions with Defence Ministers from the other SCO member nations have also been scheduled, where bilateral concerns and subjects of mutual interest will be discussed.

During his visit to Tashkent, Singh will pay tribute at the monument of late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and meet with members of the Indian Diaspora in Uzbekistan, AbpLive reports.
