India to administer ‘precaution doses’ from Monday

India is all set to start the administering of COVID 19 ‘precaution doses’ to healthcare workers, frontline workers and people over the age  of 60 .It will begin from Monday, January 10. Online registrations for the ‘precaution dose’ of vaccine had already been started from Friday on the Co WIN portal. This ‘precaution dose’ is recommended for healthcare workers, frontline workers and senior citizens with comorbidities. The booster dose can be taken only after 9 months or 39 weeks from the administration of second dose of same vaccine adminstered previously. Registrations and appointments are available both in online and on-site modes. Reminders SMS will be sent to all the recipients due for ‘precaution doses’.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has shared a tweet stating “Third dose of COVAXIN holds promise”. The post states ‘On safety and immunogenecity of a booster dose of COVAXIN  administered 6 months after completion of a two dose primary vaccination series’.

This booster shot will provide extra protection and prevention against COVID 19.
