Tesla Announces Rollout of FSD v14 Lite Update for Hardware 3 (HW3) Early-Access Customers

Just recently, Tesla had released its FSD v14 series for its Hardware 4 (HW4) customers and following this, the brand has now started rolling out the new FSD v14 Lite build for Hardware 3 (HW3) early-access customers. This new build brings the driving intelligence of HW4’s v14 series to HW3 vehicles, while also adding a few new features and safety-focused improvements.

Here’s more about it.

Tesla – FSD (supervised) v14 Lite Update Now Rolling Out to HW3 Early-Access Customers

As mentioned, Tesla’s FSD (supervised) v14 Lite update (software version 2026.20.5.1) has now started rolling out for HW3 early-access customers and based on the feedback received from them, the brand will be rolling it out to more customers over the next few weeks. The update was confirmed by Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s Vice President of AI Software, “FSD v14 Lite is now rolling out to AI3 early-access customers. Based on the feedback, will rollout to more customers over the next few weeks. This build distills the driving behavior from AI4’s v14 series into both the camera and compute config of AI3. It includes destination options and speed profiles on city roads, but more importantly significantly improved safety. We hope you’ll enjoy it, once the build ships wide.”

FSD V14 Lite Rollout for HW3 Vehicles

Speaking more about it, the FSD v14 Lite build allows HW3 to directly learn how to handle different driving scenarios by using HW4 V14 as a guide. This process further unlocks the improvements that were earlier brought to HW4, including Reinforcement Learning (RL) and offline models, for HW3 vehicles as well.

The new FSD v14 Lite update also improves both proactive and reactive responsiveness across several driving categories. These include navigation handling, merges and forks, pedestrian interactions, traffic lights, and vehicle cut-in scenarios. Tesla has also improved the overall driving comfort in nominal scenarios through fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering, and more consistent lane centering.

Just to add, the update also introduces parking, unparking, and reversing capabilities for HW3 vehicles. Apart from this, Arrival Options have also been added, allowing users to select where FSD should park the vehicle, including in a parking lot, on the street, in a driveway, or at the curbside. Speed Profiles are also now available at all times, helping users further customize their driving style preference on city roads.

It’s wider rollout will take place in the coming weeks based on the feedback received.
