By 2021, Facebook will add more profile security features

On Tuesday, Facebook Inc said it will begin encouraging users to set up physical security keys as a way to check their identity before signing into the mobile app of the social network, starting next year.

The organization currently provides an option to connect to a desktop device before each log-in by requiring a hardware security key.

The company said users could buy a hardware key from retailers and register it with Facebook, citing an earlier https://bit.ly/3nI7yHb article by Axios news website.

Facebook Protect, the security service for high-profile users and political candidates, has aimed to extend to other forms of accounts worldwide next year, the world’s largest social network said.

A July hack by peer social network Twitter Inc that compromised several celebrity profiles, including those of President-elect Joe Biden and Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk, follows the rollout of new security services.

Currently accessible in the United States, Facebook Protect provides a way to set up enhanced security provisions such as two-factor verification and real-time surveillance for possible hacking risks for lawmakers, government departments, and election personnel.

Users such as journalists and human rights campaigners who are at a greater risk of being attacked by sophisticated hackers will now be available, Facebook added.
