TRAI June 2025 Report Reveals 20 Lakh New Mobile Subscribers in India: Jio Still Stands as the Leader, Followed by Airtel

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has now released its June 2025 telecom subscription data, revealing that a total of 20 lakh new mobile phone subscribers were added in India. Moreover, the two major telecom providers of the country have acquired more new subscribers, while the case with the other two is the exact opposite.

India Adds 20 Lakh New Mobile Subscribers in June 2025
As per what has been reported by TRAI, India is said to have added over 20 lakh new mobile phone subscribers in the month of June 2025, and the same trend that was followed in May 2025 was also experienced in June 2025 as well: Jio and Airtel gained more subscribers; BSNL and VI lost its subscribers.
Speaking more. Reliance Jio is reported to have added a total of 19,12,780 new subscribers in June 2025, bringing its user base to 47,70,21,536 in number. For Bharti Airtel, 7,63,482 new members joined its user base which has brought it to a total of 39,10,13,798 subscribers. Both Jio and Airtel now hold the largest market shares of 41.02% and 33.62% respectively, and the two still continue to dominate the market.
About BSNL and Vodafone Idea, both these companies just like in May 2025 haven’t added any new subscribers and on top of this, the two have lost existing subscribers too from their user base. This time BSNL has lost more of its subscribers and the number amounts to 3,05,766. While slightly lesser, VI has lost another 2,17,816 subscribers. Reportedly, BSNL and VI are said to currently have respective market shares of only 7.78% and 17.56% with user bases of 9,04,64,244 and 20,42,19,194 subscribers.
