On Monday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted that his new company, robotaxi will be like Uber and Airbnb. He confirms this at an annual shareholder’s meeting.

According to Musk, the system is not being designed like other carmakers had conceptualized it for a single city. Musk says that Tesla is also working on a solution for self-driving.

The Tesla CEO has told the Tesla shareholders that it will become a combination of Uber and Airbnb, New York Post reports.

Musk comments on self-driving cars by saying that “look how many cars are parked.” There are parking lots occupied by cars all around as cars require a driver and most of the time they are doing nothing.

Musk also hints that the owners of Tesla could also add their personal vehicles into the robotaxi fleet, which can help the customers for paying off the car loans in the structure of secondary earning.

When Tesla’s FSD (Full Self-Driving) will get entirely operational, Musk has claimed that owners will have the choice of using it themselves or adding their cars to the robotaxi fleet to earn when it is not needed.

Airbnb requests European hosts to provide free homes to Ukrainian refugees.

Firstly, many days have passed since Russia-Ukraine tension breaks into a war. Russia is shelling Ukraine. Ukrainian residents are fleeing their nation fearing for their lives as Moscow shells the country.

As a consequence, Russia is facing ill effects of it on its trade and economy. At the same time, several companies are extending a help hand to Ukraine during the ongoing crisis.

The number of refugees grows from the initial numbers of 677,000 to 874,000 on Wednesday.

One day after the announcement, over 25,000 prospective hosts visit the link.

Airbnb officials send letters to the leaders of 14 European countries to seek permission of accomodating Ukranian refugees in Airbnb properties located in the countries. Some of the countries are, Poland, Hungary, Germany, UK, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and so on.

They would not only provide free stays but might also come up with longer stays.

Further, Airbnb partners with an NGO, HIAS, to provide support to refugees on humanitarian grounds.

Short term rental site VRBO plans not to cancel reservations in the DC area during its inauguration week even though its rival company Airbnb has done so.

The company VRBO said that “it was encouraging hosts to cancel booking”

Following the attack on 6 January on the Capitol where 6 people died. DC area officials said that they were encouraging Americans not to come to Washinton, DC, and to participate virtually in the inauguration.

VRBO through its blog said that they wanted people to stay at their places and participate in the online inauguration. They also requested people to follow and obey the rules of the officials in their local area. The officials are reporting the threat of violence in DC in the near future.

Airbnb is blocking all reservations in Wahington. Airbnb told that they are aware of the armed militia and known hate group. They had envisaged coming to DC to disrupt the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Existing Airbnb reservations were canceled, providing full refunds to guests.
