28 More Starlink Satellites Deployed Today

It was just last week that SpaceX deployed 24 Starlink satellites, and with today’s launch, 28 more Starlink satellites were added to the 8000+ Starlink satellite constellation that is already present in the low Earth orbit. On the X platform, SpaceX has also confirmed the successful deployment. This launch was as part of the Starlink 10-26 mission, and about eight minutes following the launch, the booster came back to the droneship – ‘A Shortfall of Gravitas’, in the Atlantic ocean. To note, this Falcon 9 rocket is being used for the 22nd time, and the touchdown marks the 119th vessel recapture. Moreover, for SpaceX, this is the 480th booster landing.

Notably, today’s Starlink satellite deployment follows the recent network outage that the company faced recently across the world, that left thousands of users without any network connectivity. It had lasted for about 2.5 hours and the issue is reportedly due to the ‘failure in key internal software services operating the core network’.

As of now, SpaceX is preparing for the Crew-11 mission launch with NASA. This mission will be taking Zena Cardmon (American astronaut), Michael Fincke (American astronaut, retired US Air Force Colonel), Kimiya Yui (Japanese astronaut), and Oleg Platonov (Russian cosmonaut) to the International Space Station (ISS) following the previous Axiom-4 mission. The liftoff is scheduled on the 31st of July 2025 – this month.
