Apple Releases iOS 26 Public Beta with Liquid Glass Design and New Features

Apple has launched the public beta of iOS 26, allowing iPhone owners to test the new operating system before its official release expected in mid-September 2025, following the launch of the iPhone 17 series.
This update introduces a major redesign called Liquid Glass, which applies fluid, transparent, and layered elements throughout the interface for a more dynamic look and feel. Notable improvements include an overhauled Messages app with new backgrounds, polls, and live translation, as well as a redesigned Camera app that’s more intuitive to use.
Apple Intelligence, a suite of advanced on-device AI features like visual actions, smarter shortcuts, live call translation, and improved transcription, is available only on iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, iPhone 16 series, and newer models with the A17 Pro chip or later.
Other updates include enhancements to Apple Music and Maps, privacy improvements, and the new Apple Games app, which consolidates and manages your gaming experience. The public beta supports iPhone 11 and newer models, including the 2nd- and 3rd-generation iPhone SE, but iPhone XR and XS are no longer supported.
Users can join Apple’s Beta Software Program to download the update, but Apple advises backing up data and being prepared for potential bugs or battery issues, as is typical with beta software.
