Google introduces 7 new and upcoming features in Google Chat that makes it easier and fun to message your friends and family

Whenever it comes to making the work of users easy and interesting, Google has always been at the top as the company introduces various new features and apps that would just make the work of users super easy with just a few taps on their devices. We recently informed you that Google has redesigned a few apps for Google Pixel foldable smartphones as the craze of foldable devices has suddenly increased among the consumers therefore the company decided to redesign some of it’s apps according to the large screen in order to enhance user experience.

Just a few hours after that the company informed through a blog post that they will be soon releasing 7 new Google Chat features with which the users can quickly craft a response, edit and delete messages, check read receipts, and more. These upcoming features will make it easy for users to connect with their family and friends.

7 new Google Chat features

  • Quickly craft a response with smart compose

Smart Compose is available in Gmail and Google Docs that lets you quickly craft a response to a message along with contextually aware suggestions that also reduce the chance of spelling and grammar errors in your response. Smart Compose will be rolling out in 5 languages to all Chat web users- English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

  • Edit and delete your messages

Just like Whatsapp, users can now edit the sent message in Google Chat in order to make it more precise and accurate. While the user can also delete the sent message in case they want to start over or have sent it to the wrong person.

  • Quote a message in a group chat

In a group chat when all the members are having a discussion it becomes sometimes confusing that on which message the responses are being sent which diverts the topic of discussion. Therefore now the users can now quote a message in their response to avoid confusion. This feature is generally available to all chat users.

  • Check read receipts in a group chat

In this new feature when someone reads a message you have sent in a group chat you will see their avatar appear below it you can also tap on the list to see who all have seen your message. This feature will be rolled out for group messages on mobile and the web this month

  • Link directly to text

In the coming weeks on the web and Android, users will be able to link text in messages the same way we usually do in Google Docs or Slides. Just select the text you want to hyperlink, click on the “Insert link” icon in the formatting toolbar, and paste or type the URL. This would save the users from the hustle of pasting long URLs to the messages.

  • Hide inactive conversations

Users can now hide direct messages that have been inactive for the last seven days though you can access the full list of conversations by clicking on the “More” button also when a new message is received in that hidden message it will be automatically resurfaced to the top.

  • Add apps for more features

In case you plan a party or a trip and you feel like it’s hectic to assign duties to everyone in the group chat, you can add Asana to the group chat to create a to-do list and assign responsibilities. You can also install Zapier to manage custom notifications whereas to make the conversation interesting you can add GiFs from Giphy. In the coming weeks, the ability to download apps for personal chats will be made available.
