Battery Life of Two iPhone 15 Series Models Reduced Compared to its Previous Generation

Apple launched its latest iPhone 15 series devices a few days back, on the 12th of September 2023, and now, it has turned out that the Pro models of the series offer lesser battery life when compared to the Pro models of the previous 14 series.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max Battery Life Reduced?

Yes, the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices has reduced and is now lesser than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, as per the endurance test results that have been shared online.

Eight devices have been listed as part of the test and this includes 6 Apple iPhone devices – iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15 & iPhone 15 Pro. The other two are Xiaomi devices – Redmi K60 Ultra & Xiaomi 13 Pro. In the test, the iPhone 15 Plus smartphone scored the highest battery life of 9 hours and 17 minutes, and the iPhone 15 Pro device scored the lowest with a battery life of only 6 hours.

Now back to the main point of discussion, the newly unveiled iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices do indeed have larger batteries when compared to the previous versions, but for some reason, the battery life has been reduced, likely due to the new A17 Pro processor itself.

The iPhone 15 Pro with a battery backup of 3,274 mAh has a battery life of only 6 hours, as mentioned above, whereas the previous iPhone 14 Pro with a 3,200 mAh battery offers a battery life of 6 hours and 46 minutes. The iPhone 15 Pro Max, on the other hand, comes equipped with a 4,422 mAh battery with a battery life of 7 hours and 13 minutes, and in comparison, its previous model, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is backed by a 4,323 mAh battery has a better battery life of 7 hours and 55 minutes.

The difference in battery life is 46 minutes in the iPhone 15 Pro model, while in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it is 42 minutes. Taking the case that the devices come with slightly larger batteries, a longer battery life was expected, but sadly the opposite has turned out to be the reality.
