Xiaomi ‘s own chipset for smartphone- XRING O1 officially announced

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has been trying to make its own high-end smartphone chip for a long time now, but there was no update on when the chipset will be arriving in the market. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun, yesterday officially announced that Xiaomi’s self-developed chipset, XRING O1 will be released in late May.
In the comment section, the CEO also mentioned that Xiaomi’s ten-year journey to build chips began in September 2014. Back in 2017, the company introduced the Surge S1 chip that was used in the Mi 5C device, while the Surge S2 chip was introduced in 2018 but did not make its debut in any Xiaomi device.
And now the company has arrived with an all-new mobile SoC- XRING O1. Other than the name of this chipset, not much is revealed officially. Recently, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the chipset is built within 5nm.
Xiaomi has become the fourth smartphone maker globally and the second in China to design processors for its smartphones. Xiaomi XRING O1 is expected to debut in a flagship model, though details are still under wraps.
It was recently tipped that this all-new chipset uses TSMC’s N4P process. It arrives with a 1+3+4 architecture. Cortex X925 core clocked at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. However, readers are advised to take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for the official confirmation.
