Hugging Face Unveils its New Open-Source Full-Size Robot, HopeJR

2025 has been a promising year for humanoid robot makers and by now many companies have introduced or showcased their latest innovations. Boston Dynamic’s Atlas, Vanar’s Generation 1, and 1X’s Neo Gamma are notably a few of the humanoid robots that caught the attention of the tech sphere this year. Hugging Face has now joined the race and has unveiled HopeJR as its new open-source full-size robot.

Hugging Face’s New Open-Source Full-Size Robot – HopeJR
As mentioned, HopeJR is a full-size robot that has been unveiled by Hugging Face and unlike other such products that have already been introduced featuring black box systems within, Hugging Face’s HopeJR is open-source and thus users will be able to assemble it, rebuild it, and also understood its functioning. HopeJR also has 66 actuated degrees of freedom or in other words, it is capable of performance 66 independent movements. It can walk, move its arms, pick up things, and do many more.
About its pricing and availability details, Hugging Face estimates it to come around USD 3000 (depending on tariff charges), and the first few units are expected to be shipped by the end of this year in 2025. Also to note, the wait-list for HopeJR is currently open and interested customers can register for it now.
Speaking more, along with HopeJR, Hugging Face has also introduced a desktop unit too – named Reachy Mini. This open-source robot is capable of moving its head, talk and listen, and even be used to test AI applications. It is said to be priced somewhere between USD 250 and USD 300, and its shipment is also expected to begin before the end of this year.
