Price hikes for iPhones, Macs and iPads coming soon; Apple CEO confirms

The tech industry has seen multiple price hikes in the past few months due to a rise in component costs like memory and storage chips. The rise in component costs is due to a high demand from the AI industry. Well, so far, various Android devices have felt the impact of these rising costs, and soon Apple products will also face the heat of this issue.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned the company’s plans to raise prices of its products due to the surging component costs. He mentioned, “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable. We’re doing our best to mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.”
Apple is said to face pressure from suppliers as available stock gets redirected toward AI-focused hardware. The company is dealing with both supply constraints and rising costs, especially in the DRAM market. It appears that Apple, which is known for strong supply-chain management and buying power, is finding it difficult to avoid the impact.
Reportedly, Mac and iPad could be the first to receive the price hike, while future iPhones could also carry a higher price.
The company is expected to launch its upcoming iPhone 18 series in September 2026. Usually, when the company introduces its next-generation iPhone series, it reduces the prices for the previous generation. But with the price hike announcement, it is assumed that this year, the price for the iPhone 17 series won’t be reduced much, resulting in disappointment for Apple fans.
