Vijay Shekhar Sharma founder and CEO of Paytm was arrested and later released on bail

Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma was arrested by Delhi police last month and later released on bail on a charge of speeding. Sharma was allegedly driving a Jaguar Land Rover that crashed into Benita Mary Jaiker’s car in DCP (southern region) in February.

According to The Indian Express, the incident took place on February 22 and police filed a FIR complaint against Constable Dipak Kumar, who has been fired as DP driver (South) Benita Mary Jaiker.

Delhi police spokesman Suman Nalwa confirmed that police had “arrested Sharma and released him on bail”.

The report said Constable Kumar also gave a statement saying he had been sent to DCP (Jaiker) and took his car to a petrol station.

Constable Kumar, said, “Constable Pradeep, a mechanic, was with me when we arrived at Mother’s International School and found traffic there. I saw a group of people leaving their children (at school). I slowed down and asked Pradeep to come down to clear the traffic. ”

Police also contacted the Department of Transport to track down the vehicle and found that the vehicle was registered with a Gurgaon company. After contacting the company, police found that the car had been handed over to Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, after which he was arrested and released on bail.
