Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada creates the one millionth battery pack

Tesla’s Gigafactory Nevada has officially created its one millionth battery pack, according to company employees. When it was first implemented, Gigafactory Nevada was a rather innovative concept.

The idea was to construct a sizable plant in collaboration with Panasonic. Panasonic would produce battery cells there, and Tesla would use those cells to produce battery packs for its products there.

The scale was the most fascinating feature. At the plant, Tesla intended to produce more than 100 GWh of batteries.

The plans were modified as the factory came together. Even though the capacity of the Gigafactory Nevada is still only around 30% of what was initially anticipated, Tesla and Panasonic managed to maximise output there.

Tesla makes battery packs for the Model 3, Model Y, Powerwall, Powerpacks, Megapacks, and drivetrains for its EV portfolio, whereas Panasonic manufactures 2170 battery cells.

Tesla hasn’t provided the public with an update on the Gigafactory Nevada’s production capacity in a while, but we’ve recently observed an intriguing data point. According to many posts made by workers, Tesla produced its one millionth pack at the factory earlier this month.

They seem to be referring primarily to the Model 3/Y battery packs, which have increased over the past four years.

Given that Tesla states that Gigafactory Fremont can create 500,000 Model 3 and Model Y automobiles annually, this suggests that Gigafactory Nevada can generate around 500,000 battery packs. Additionally, Tesla makes battery packs for the Model 3/Y in Shanghai and has plans to increase pack production in Texas and Berlin.
