WhatsApp releases a new update for its Windows app; Comes with a web-based WhatsApp and new accessibility features

Recently, WhatsApp has released some new and exciting features for its mobile app users, and now new changes have been announced for the Windows app users.

WhatsApp is rolling out a new update that includes some changes for Windows. WhatsApp Windows app now supports adding to Status, accessing followed channels, and chatting in Communities. These features are expected to enhance desktop functionality for users.

Reportedly, the company is also informing users about this update, where they are warned that they will be logged out to complete the update, and they will need their phone to log back in. However, the update is not being forced on users for now. Apart from this, it is also revealed that this new update will replace the old native app with a web wrapper app.

According to a report by Windows Latest, the web wrapper version uses more RAM than the old version, while the new version is also found to be slower. The web wrapper version is said to use more system resources than the previous version.

Many users have expressed their displeasure in the comment section of the above announcement post, regarding this new update, due to its RAM consumption and difficulty in usage.
